The Mail Collection and Delivery is a software system designed to control the collection and delivery of large quantities of mail, small packets, printed paper and books. Due to the Royal Mail monopoly of domestic mail, MCD is designed as an international mailing system. Collections from various UK clients can be delivered by the most cost effective and or fastest method available. The same is true of inbound mail from direct injecting foreign clients or mailing partners.
Sales consignments are entered into the system in terms of number of items and weight for each service level specified by the client. Client specific invoices can then be raised at consignment level, daily or weekly. Each client has a pre-configured table of rates and invoice style and wording.
Purchase deliveries are entered into the system under a supplier specific scheme or as a multi supplier consolidation. Deliveries entered under one of the Royal Mail International schemes produces the relevant plain paper docket CA53 or CA31a. Similarly, the domestic schemes produce CA27 and CA32. For a direct injection delivery to a foreign postal service all the relevant dockets and manifest documentation are produced. Supplier invoices can be matched upon receipt.
Management reports include accruals, operational profit, customer
and supplier profiles with league tables. Reporting is at service
and weight break point and at summary level. Comprehensive reports
for destinations allow costing for alternative delivery methods.
