New Forest Half Marathon - September 2007

Sunday 16th September 2007. Albacore Systems Limited, a Southampton based company that provide Facilities Managed IT solutions to the Freight and Logistics industry take part in the 25th Anniversary New Forest Half Marathon.

Weather conditions were perfect, dry and bright with a cool breeze for the 25th Anniversary New Forest Marathon and Half Marathon.

The whole of Albacore were involved and despite none of the participants having any recent experience with running further than a mile or two, they all finished the 13 mile course, the fastest being Charlie Frost who achieved an astonishing time, just a few seconds over 2 hours.

Full times and race results can be found at www.nfma.org.uk

Cliff Atkinson: "Over the past few months many people have suggested that we run the event for charity and have offered us sponsorship, I have declined the offers as I had serious doubts that we would be able to complete the course and I did not want to let anybody down. I'm so pleased with our achievement that Albacore have decided to make a donation of £300 to Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), we are all keen to run the event next year which is on Sunday the 21th September and I think next time we will be looking for sponsors. I also rather suspect that an element of competition is developing as to which of us can turn in the best time!"
